Electronic products for medical use must be designed for safety, minimum interaction with other electronic devices, and for industrial-grade reliability. More specifically, they must conform to UL2601 in the United Sates and EN60601(Both EN60601-1-1, EN60601-1-2 are included) in Europe. In addition to being the base of many harmonized standards, IEC60601-1 is also an FDA recognized consensus standard. The UL2601-1 safety standard contains the full text of IEC60601-1 and adds certain US-specific requirements as well. The goal of these standards is to ensure that all medical electronic products provide a high level of safety for operators and patients. Advantech Point of Care Terminals are UL2601-1/EN60601-1 approved and the low current leakage power supply enables them to act an ideal and secure point-of-care solution for patients and hospital practitioners.
