Powerful PC-based Custom DV Systems
The need for video surveillance has steadily increased and is projected to continue so for some time, the migration to digital video systems from analogue opens up a new world of possibilities with distributed, remote monitoring and surveillance, anywhere anytime. Using Advantech’s Digital Video Platform as their platform of choice to develop their DV products, system integrators can offer a wide range of DV solutions to enable the recording and distribution of high quality digital video using hardware encoded MPEG4 technology to offer the best quality/compression for delivery over networks. The DVP is the essential part of a digital video system, which can remotely monitor, record, playback and transmit multiple MPEG4 digital video streams over LAN, WAN, Web or Wireless, primarily for use in the industrial automation, security/surveillance and transportation industries.
Automated Remote Industrial Control System
Working with Advantech’s product lines such as the ADAM series DAS modules, system integrators can design distributed industrial control systems that enable remote web based monitoring, control & recording via a standard web browser from the PC, Notebook or Touch Panel Computer, anywhere, anytime. In addition ActiveX controls can integrate with HMI/SCADA software to provide powerful monitoring and control functions for the Industrial Automation industries.
Example: An air-conditioning cooling tower monitoring system. The SI uses an ADAM module to get the water’s temperature and to set the high-temperature alarm notification. When the temperature is over the safety range it triggers the alarm signal and the video will start recording and send the video data to the control center, even notifying the operator that an alarm has been triggered. The video data can be instantly searched and played back for analysis, troubleshooting or if needed as legal evidence.
Medical Applications
With the rapid growth of medical information technology, digital video devices and equipment for medical use keep evolving, such as monitoring centers and point-of-care terminals with data processing functions.
Example: PACS is a PC-based advanced solution for picture archiving and communication. Through (TCP/IP) structure, the system integrator can design DV solutions that converts high quality analog images from an endoscope camera into the DIACOM 3.0 format that then transfers the DIACOM data from the DV system to the main server, allowing for data retrieval and post-processing when required. PACS simplifies the process of picture archiving and communication, providing real-time, paperless and film-free terminals for medical applications. The whole system is enabled by Advantech’s DVP hardware platform, allowing specialist solutions to be designed and developed.
Wireless Transportation Monitoring

For real-time tracking and monitoring in the transportation market using wireless devices, the system integrator can deploy multiple cameras for security and monitoring in automobiles, taxis, trucks, police cars, buses, trains, airplanes, ships and more.
Example: Using Advantech’s DVP platforms, device manufactures and system integrators can custom design systems for many types of vehicle to assist in monitoring, tracking, security/theft prevention, loss recovery and port of entry screening. System users can locate, query and track products via handheld PDA, G3 cellular phone or using a standard Web browser. Digital video can be recorded directly from vehicles on the move and transmitted via wireless connection GPRS/3G networks to the monitoring center for real-time status updates. Advantech’s DVP products are industrial grade platforms that are ideal for mobile transportation environments. |
