    Building Automation & Energy Management
  • Intelligent Hotel Application with WebAccess
The goal of having an intelligent building starts with early planning in the design stage. There are enormous benefits to be gained by creating intelligent buildings. The Pullman South Hotel in Beijing, China, is managed by the Accor Group in France and is seated in the central area of the new Economic & Technological Development Area. This is the only 5-star hotel in the new area, which makes its profile that much higher. With 19 floors, the hotel is equipped with guest rooms, dining, entertainment and recreation facilities.
  • Energy Saving & Power Monitoring System
Recently a university in Taiwan was experiencing dramatic power usage increases due to its growing number of campus buildings and students. Aiming to analyze their power consumption and increase their power efficiency across 52 buildings, the university wanted to build a power management system utilizing web-based hardware and software. With these goals in mind, they contacted Advantech to help them develop their system and provide them with the means to save energy in the years to come.
  • Security Complex System for Intelligent Residential Quarter
Intelligent residential quarters in China have been increasing in popularity since their introduction in the 1980’s, especially in the larger cities like Beijing and Shanghai. Intelligent residential quarters are equipped with elevators, water & sewage pumps, lighting, security and more. Automatic monitoring is necessary for ensuring safe operation at all times. An international intelligent residential quarter located in Shanghai city uses Advantech’s WebAccess as the kernel of its Building Automation system.
  • Intelligent Building Automation System
One of our clients is an international computer company known for exceptional research, development, and manufacturing. Recently, they were looking to implement an intelligent automation system in their headquarters in Taiwan to monitor and control automation systems in the 13-floor building. This project integrates a variety of equipment through powerful network functionality. The design of this system was aimed at achieving an energy-saving solution: each floor is equipped with automation monitoring and controlling equipment, the electrical power system sets the scheduling for start and stop times, and the efficient security system reduces the human resources needed on-site. This helps achieve maximum benefits with minimum costs.
  • Energy Management System with Energy Saving Capabilities
Rising energy costs are forcing many enterprises to step up their efforts to reduce energy consumption and improve energy management. Making the most of all available energy and facility resources is becoming crucial for all business across all industries. Advantech旧 open networking technologies combined with compact and robust platforms and reliable controllers are a powerful solution for any Energy Management System (EMS). Successfully applied in a large American chain store, this EMS solution allowed our client to control and manage energy resources in hundreds of their stores across the USA.
  • Renewable Energy
  • Wind Power Generation Transmission System
China's national wind power capacity is expected to reach 30 million W by 2015. By conservative estimation, China's wind power capacity will be up to 80 million W by 2020. The dramatic increase in the number of wind power plants thereby requires a great number of wind farm information management systems and remote wind turbine monitoring systems. Since these systems are used in harsh environments, they need the support of managed industrial Ethernet switches with wide temperature ranges. Recently, a large manufacturer of wind power turbines purchased Advantech's EKI series as the main network switches for its management system.
  • Solar Thermoelectric Control System
The Sun is a huge source of abundant power, sending nearly 10,550 EJ of energy to the Earth every day. This is more energy in one hour than all the combined cities of the world use in one year. To try and harness this magnificent power, many countries have been investing in solar technologies for over 30 years. Today’s solar thermoelectric systems include reflectors, mirrors, heat insulating absorbers and advanced motion control technology. Advantech’s own Industrial Wireless Ethernet products are a perfect fit for many such applications due to their great performance, reliability and ruggedness.
  • Sun Tracking System for Solar Energy
Based on its very nature, solar energy isn't available 24 hours a day. Making the most of our suns energy requires highly efficient solar cells and advanced sun tracking systems. Sun tracking allows the solar cells to face the strongest sunlight while it is available, so they need to be able to detect the strength of sunlight in different directions to determine the best location for the strongest sunlight. The solar plates must be constantly adjusted to the correct angle and direction by the sun tracker system, which requires a multi-axis motion control system.
  • Remote Monitoring System in Wind Power Generation
Wind power generation systems are always installed in very harsh environments with extreme temperatures (for example, offshore environments might be below -10 C), with an abundance of dust and vibration. Under these circumstances, applying an IPC with a fan as the host platform will result in reliability problems and system crashes. One of our customers aimed to design a reliable power generation monitoring system, and they were looking for a compact platform that could be easily installed to replace their traditional IPC system.
  • Wind Power Turbine Control System
Conventional wind turbine controllers have only limited resources, and can only offer restricted monitoring and diagnostic functions. System developers expect controllers to not only monitor environmental conditions, temperatures and pressures in the hydraulic system, including rotation speeds and vibrations, but also allow remote management and diagnostics through a network.

SUMMARY: The combination of declining PC prices and increased robustness of operating systems and softlogic control applications have resulted in enormous growth in PC-based control since the mid-1990s. But while the basic PC is standardized, not all PCs are equal – particularly when it comes to operating reliably in industrial environments...
