Magazine Printing Machine Production

Location: Spain
 Application Back to Top

Before Advantech Panel PC was installed, the original printing machine was not automatically controlled. After the implementation of automatic production, the PPC-100T allowed the operator to access all information on the printing machine, including its operation. The data was logged in a database host, allowing the operator to collect statistics of and reports on the production, as well as the working conditions of the machine.
 System Back to Top

System structure-software:
The panel PC's operating system is Windows 3.11. The control application was developed by I.G Sistemas, in Visual Basic 3.0, with PCLS-VBX-DIO to control the two PCL-836s. This software reads the speed and the rpms of the rollers integrated into the magazine printing machine and other interesting parameters. It also allows the operator to monitor the state of the machine, choose among different control menus and generate reports, all by using the touch screen.

System structure-hardware:
The hardware includes the PPC-100T Panel PC with touch screen, and an expansion kit with two PCL-836 6-channel counter/timer cards, plus terminal adapters, cables, and the ADAM-3937 wiring terminal. The PPC-100 is fitted in the control table of the printing machine. The two PCL-836s in the expansion kit receive signals from the machine; the Panel PC then shows the speed and rpms of the rollers and sends the data to the host and other network terminals distributed throughout the factory via Ethernet network. The operator can then view the other terminals and monitor the operation of the printing machine. The mainframe host receives the data, and generates reports and statistics of the printing machine. The PPC-100T's LCD display also provides an MMI (Man-Machine-Interface) between the operator and the system control, conveniently allowing the operator to check machine status in real-time.
