 Ever since the slot machines in casinos were able to accept banknotes, a lot less coins were being inserted in the slots. Therefore, casino personnel constantly had to refill the slot machines with coins. Furthermore, exchanging coins, banknotes and jackpot pay-outs generally led to long queues at the cashier's desk. Cassomat changed all that.
The Cassomat Automated Cash System (ACS) is a revolutionary new system, the first to fulfill all the requirements of both customers and casino employees. It allows customers to automatically change coins into banknotes and vice versa, or change into smaller/larger denomination banknotes. An optional feature enables casino operators to authorize jackpot pay-outs right on the casino floor, by using identification cards. Consequently, the new system has made jackpot pay-outs user-friendly, quick, efficient and with the best possible security and accountability.

To replace the original standard PC system us properly, it was decided that the new Cassomat machines had to have two user-friendly touch screens. One screen would be installed at the front of the machine, offering the customers a specially designed touch menu. The other screen would be at the rear of the machine and only for casino operator usage. Of course, the system was to be compatible with standard PCs, as well as compact and robust, easy to maintain, user-friendly and highly reliable.

The Advantech user-friendly touch screen PPC100S/TS was equipped with a 5x86/133 Processor, 16MB RAM and a 540MB hard disk drive. It was supplied within a black colored housing in order to fit in with the Cassomat system design.
The operators console at the rear of the Perconta Cassomat ACS was the PPC55MA/TS with 5.7" LCD touch screen. The ultra-compact Panel PC has 2 serial ports, a printer port, a 4 MB FLASH Module, and Ethernet capabilities.

 The customer chose Advantech's Panel PC mainly because it saved time exchanging money and because it reduces long queues at the cashier's window. The second major benefit was Advantech's global service. Since Perconta's Cassomat machines are sold worldwide, the customer needed the PPC to be a product that could be globally sourced with standard market components. The final reason was because the Advantech PPC offers the most favorable price/performance ratio.
