Teraoka Supermarket Weighing System
Location: Singapore
| | |
|
The Teraoka Supermarket Weighing System, manufactured in Singapore, is used in Europe and Japan. Before the Panel PC was applied, LED with keypads were used so customers can select items & quantity. A label was printed to indicate the weight & price.
However, it bothered daily operators a lot having to change the graphical design of the keypads all the time when any of the selling items ran out of the stock.

|
The PPC was used as a Human-Man Interface for a Point Of Sales system. The four COM ports were respectively connected to the touch screen, display, weighing system and printer. Customers would place the wanted item on the weighing sensor and select the same item by touching the relevant graphical display on the touch screen. Time, date, price and weight would appear on the screen for confirmation and the customer would only have to press 'OK' to have the label printed.

The system structure software includes Windows 95 with application software written in Visual Basic. The hardware consists out of the PPC-100T, which serves as a Human-Machine Interface (HMI).

The PPC-100T is not only compact in size - it beats any conventional PC with CRT monitor - it is also easy to install. Another major benefit is the user-friendly touch screen, for which there has been an increasing demand. Final benefit is its efficiency in management. Shopkeepers can easily reprogram the settings of the PPC. Customers won't have to wait for long, as the display of items is changed within the minute. Naturally, it also suitable for inventory management.
