Before ADL (Advantech German Branch) installed the PPC-140T Flexitime Database System, a strict time management with inflexible working hours was used. Everything was recorded on paper: working hours, vacations and leaves of absence, sick days, etc. In addition, everything was filed in different formats (e-mail, notices, handwritten forms or sheets), which resulted in chaos. The management had no adequate resources to access information about their employees' presence, absence, reason for absence and duration of absence. As a result, there were a lot of cases of inappropriate sick leaves. Furthermore, this system meant extra work for the administration department since they had to obtain and process the data for the monthly pay roll.

 The PPC-140T Flexitime System was installed in the entrance hall of ADL (Advantech branch in Dseldorf, Germany). It was fitted in a slim, dust & waterproof housing, which could be adjusted to a suitable viewing angle.
The mobile stand was adjustable in height. All network and power cables were mechanically protected because they ran through the inside of the stand. Access to the Panel PC was possible through the lockable rear door.
The PPC-140T was chosen for its space saving and good looking design, and for its rugged outfit combined with Advantech's high technology.

The PPC-140T is a based PC system, which operates under Windows 95 or Windows NT and is able to run Magno Time Plus Database software. The unit is equipped with a Pentium 200MHz MMX processor, 64MB SD-RAM, RTC, a serial DCF77- PC radio clock, and an easy maintainable and user-friendly touch screen (bright 14" TFT color display). In addition, a two-way serial magnetic card reader is connected to a serial port, so employees can register their working hours.
The PPC-140 units are connected to ADL's Novell server by an integrated Ethernet RJ45 connector, while the Magno Time Plus software allows each individual workstation to access the PPC-140 Flexitime System. Authorized users can readily access on-line information about employee absence or presence, reason for absence or company activities.
Since the units were to be installed in the company's entrance hall, they have an inviting yet vandal-proof design and require a minimum of floor space. In other words, the PPC-140T meets the requirements in every aspect.

The Flexitime system is easy to operate and a reliable time recording system with network capabilities. It provides on-line information about any registered person's status - absences, working-time, sick days, etc. Furthermore, it enables flexible control of working hours and automatic accounting to determine the monthly pay-roll.
