Hsinli Chemicals specializes in the production of various types of adhesive sheets. Its annual production volume ranks among the top three in Taiwan. The company has four production plants, which are spread across Hsuehchia town in Tainan county. It has more than a hundred production units for different types of adhesive sheet. In recent years, Hsinli Chemicals has actively automated its production and management, and is gradually moving toward a computer-integrated manufacturing (CIM) system.

In 1997, the management at Hsinli Chemicals introduced computerized production scheduling in order to gain full control over the production status and to provide customers with the best service. The management also hoped that the scheduling computer could be connected directly to equipment on the assembly line. This way, direct feedback on the production status would be possible. An academic group was commissioned to study the possibilities but ultimately failed due to the technical difficulties. Those difficulties were overcome with the technology provided by Advantech Panel PC (PPC-102T). Currently, the company is taking steps to install the Panel PC in the production machine and connect it with the software scheduling computer.

The system allows the management level to obtain real-time information concerning the production line. As a result, Hsinli can provide customers with the best service. At the same time, it provides a humanized management system, which allows maintenance/repair personnel to fully understand the operation and possible malfunctions of the machine. The equipment is in a constantly in the best possible production condition.

- Online production monitoring
This includes customer codes, order numbers, machine types, shifts, production speed, aggregate or current production volumes, number of orders, production start time & date, aggregate production time, current machine stop time, select reasons for stopping machine and records malfunctions/repairs.
- Statistical analysis
Provides statistical analysis of production data, malfunction reason(s) and frequency, as well as of the total machine operation rate.
