Advantech Introduces XScale / Windows CE 5.0 Evaluation Kits for Design To Order Services (DTOS) Projects

Advantech is delighted to announce the launch of two new XScale / Windows CE 5.0 evaluation kits, the PCM-7221-0K0CE1E and PCM-7231-0K0CE1E, which make it easy for potential RISC-based DTOS customers to evaluate Advantech XScale/Windows CE solutions before project kick-off. The PCM-7221 and PCM-7231 evaluation kits integrate the Marvel PXA270 CPU with Windows CE 5.0 for a compact, low-power and fanless solution. Advantech XScale/WindowsCE 5.0 evaluation kits are a good base for the development of handheld, healthcare and telematics devices. This results in low risk and higher efficiency for RISC-based DTOS (Design To Order Services) projects.

 

PCM-7231 and PCM-7221 evaluation kits are designed for different applications. Both of these evaluation kits have the same low-power XScale PXA270 CPU with Window CE 5.0. The low-power and compact features of PCM-7221 make it ideal for healthcare and portable data acquisition. The PCM-7231 has built-in Marvel 2700G graphics with 32 MB VRAM for telematics and self-service applications. These two evaluation kits include all parts needed for easy customer evaluation: plastic chassis, LCD, touchscreen, Windows CE 5.0, RISC motherboard, power adaptor and related cables. The customer just needs to plug the power in and start evaluation without further effort.

 

The low-power, fanless and compact architecture with wide working temperaturesand low EMI emissions makes the PCM-7221 and PCM-7231 a perfect foundation for handheld, healthcare and telematics devices.

 

The PCM-7221 and PCM-7231 evaluation kits are Windows CE 5.0 ready and have application-oriented peripheral driver support. The PCM-7221 kit supports Windows CE 6.0 beta for special projects. Embedded Linux 2.6 can be requested on a project by project basis.
